OtherZine Issue #32:: Call for Proposals

otherzine beetle

OtherZine is inviting brief, descriptive Proposals for Issue 32 on ‘cinema of resistance.’

Issue 32 will be published in early February to coincide with opening night of

the Spring Other Cinema calendar.

These are hellishly dark times. What does cinema do about it? A ‘cinema of resistance’ is what we are concerned with—what is possible, what is ‘real’, what reaches higher and up and over and beyond the darkened political horizon. ‘Resistance’ is less about individual liberty and more about collaboration, collective action, tactics, courage, special underground idiolects and codes, sharing resources, mutual aid, solidarity working from where we are, ingenuity and creativity in insanely compromised circumstances.

Issue 32 is looking for your best work:

incisive rants, critical reviews, interviews, short essays, and artists’ projects relative to the ongoing project of experimental cinema, media art, video art, film culture, microcinema, and other…

Proposals should be relevant for an approximately

1000 word final piece (Word doc)

with images of your own choosing and placement or ‘artists’ project’.

Full guidelines are posted here.

Submit by midnight, January 5, for any consideration.
Proposed contributors will be contacted within three days of deadline.
Full pieces are due by midnight January 25, 2017.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
Queries can be sent to <otherzine@othercinema.com> and if you want to
send your work early, always appreciated. Links, etc. always welcome.

Gracias! Thanks.
